POSI is a point of sale software, otherwise known as retail management system. POSI is designed both as a standalone system for small retail outlets and as a networked system for larger outlets like departmental stores. This software comes with a MsAccess database that is used to input and output inventory, sale, vendor and other data. As this database can run on any PC, a single shop can use this software as a turnkey solution. For a larger store with multiple pos terminals, they can share a single database - be it MsAccess or MsSQL database - using a cabled or wireless LAN (local area network). ![]() A variation of this is for each shop to use its own local database. At the same time, the remote head office through VPN can still access the shops' databases, thus allowing the head office to know in realtime the performance of each and every shop. This arrangement eliminates the risk of a systemic failure due to a breakdown of the head office's server or the Internet connection. However we have implemented a synchronization functionality that ensures that in the event of drop connection - for remote networking with a central database at HQ - sale can still be processed and subsequently the HQ database can be updated. All these are automated requiring no intervention on the part of the staff.
POSI further has a "Delivery Order" module. This is the capability to issue A4-sized D.O./invoice with outstanding amount to be settled later. This feature can be used for delivery-based businesses like gardening products, furniture or for a "layaway" sale - whereby a receipt with deposit made for reservation of certain items can be issued to the customer with the balance to be paid upon delivery/collection of the goods. Similarly distribution/wholesale businesses can use such a feature in POSI to generate D.O./invoices on credit or C.O.D. terms.
Inventory module is feature-rich yet easy to use. For example you can easily modify information therein - whether in terms of price, discounts, quantity, so forth - by overwriting the information in a particular editable cell. Its easy sorting, paging and search functions also make management of your inventory a breeze.
